The Folk Band of Castello Tesino

Banda Folk di Castello Tesino

The Banda Folk di Castello Tesino was born in 1901 through the will of Martino Braus and spans 120 years of history marked by epochal challenges: the destruction of the Great War, reconstruction with Bohemian instruments, the golden period under Maestro Anacleto Flacco, and post-war renaissance. Since 2003 it has been led by Maestro Ivan Villanova, achieving international successes like the Best Popularity Award in Shanghai in 2018.

Since 1981 we proudly wear the traditional Tesino dress, a unique heritage born from the travels of "crömeri" and "perteganti" merchants who for centuries brought from their European peregrinations colorful shawls, garnets from Carinthia, French velvets. Every fabric tells the story of a commercial tradition passed down from mother to daughter for four centuries, symbol of a refined social competition.

Our repertoire maintains a deep connection with the tradition of Tyrolean Musikkapellen, spanning from Central European Böhmische Blasmusik to quality concert compositions. We don't chase momentary trends: we believe in sociality through music, always prioritizing the search for ideal sound and instrumental blend to preserve a cultural heritage that unites tradition with artistic innovation.

Our Values

Historical Heritage

Over 120 years of history through world wars, destruction and rebirth. From Martino Braus' founding in 1901 to post-war Bohemian instruments, every challenge has strengthened our musical identity.

Cultural Heritage

Our traditional Tesino dress tells centuries of merchant travels: every shawl, Carinthian garnet and French velvet testifies to the epic of the "crömeri" who created a costume unique in the world.

Musical Excellence

We prioritize quality over momentary trends: from Böhmische Blasmusik to concert compositions, we always seek the ideal sound and perfect blend among instruments of the Musikkapellen tradition.

Global Recognition

From the UN Palace in Geneva to Shanghai, where we won the Best Popularity Award among 57 world groups in 2018. We are ambassadors of Tesino culture on international stages.
